Windows XP Tip: Password Recovery Disk

Password Recovery Floppy disk bails you out of situations where you have forgotten the password to your XP account and cant log in. Here is how you create it.

  • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
  • Click your account name.
  • Under Related Tasks, click Prevent a forgotten password.
  • Follow the directions in the Forgotten Password Wizard to create a password reset disk.
Now If you forget your password in future, turn your system on normally. On the login screen, click on the green arrow next to the password box. You will be prompted to insert the password recovery disk you just created with which you can set a new password to override the old password you've forgotten.
