Windows Vista: How To Install IIS 7 on Windows Vista

All of us who are using using ASP.NET for web applications development, the very first thing we need is IIS on windows Vista, as continued from windows XP, Vista does not install IIS by default, so just follow the steps given below to install IIS 7 on Windows Vista.

Note: It is possible that your version of Vista may not shipped with IIS. In my case i am using Vista Ultimate edition.

  • First, go to Control Panel, and then click on Programs. Here you will notice a link  with caption “Turn Windows features on or off”. Click on this link.
  • Select the items you want to install (same as Add/Remove windows components in XP).
  • Click OK. It will begin the installation procedure as shown in Figure below:
  • Once finished, you can test the installation from your browser by typing http://localhost.

Professional C# 2005 (Wrox)

I liked this book for its compactness. Reading each chapter is worth its while as it does not state the obvious and gets to the point immediately. The title says "Professional" and the book lives up to it. I think this version didn't miss any thing, I've been reading this book since its edition on C# .NET 2003, most of the authors have been retained, which means that this one is a well researched and worked upon piece of literature. Its shows. I give it five stars. Professional C# 2005 (Wrox) Other Good Books

Visual Basic 2005 Black Book - An evolved book,

An evolved book. It seem to have summed up all there is to VB 2005 in a single compilation. I have been reading VB Black Books since there very fist releases. Where earlier version were more or less skimmed msdns, that very convinently stayed away form anything 'serious'; this one dares to present in its own way topics like Security, Assemblies, Remoting etc. It interests you to see such topics been discussed in such an easy to follow manner. The book, however maintains its character, i.e. this one too, like its predecessors, is skimmed msdn, but examples are better with some of them really interesting. Like that stop watch program which intrigues you with its interesting interface. Easy to follow, modular, compact - characteristics of Black Book series. Despite the fact that some of the code samples didnt work, I give it five stars. Visual Basic 2005 Black Book Other Good Books

CA Antivirus 2007, Its a life saver, found it better than Nortons

I've been using Norton, actually its the only Anti Virus I ever felt relying on. Good for benign homey environment but you ask for even a little more and it refuses to oblige with a straight face. Happened to me when a client complained of a CD which I had compiled at home, being infectious. I scanned it many times to no avail. I scanned it with McAfee my brother has on his System still no trace. I tried pacifying my client who gave me that techy's look (that I use to give him) and asked me to scan it with CA. Ya, I got this advice from my client. But CA's virus defination are more comprhensive. Its light wait to boot. It scans the system without slowing it down that much. I'm yet to explore its internet security thingy but with CA standing guard for my system, I'm more at piece with secrutity senerio at home. I give it five starts. CA Antivirus Other Good Software
